Because when he gets angry the monster side of him starts taking more control. He doesn't have a problem with killing someone... he just prefer not to have to. He can be reasonable.
And he does have a soft side. Mikko grew up very near the Swiss Alps. He was raised to be very outdoorsy and a lover of nature. And he can be a gentleman. Chivalry is dead, but not to him. He minds his manners around the women especially, opens doors for them, stands when they enter a room, all the stuff you wish your guy would do.
